Quick Post About Austin 26.2

My family is still enjoying some vacation time here in Austin, so I'll keep this short and sweet.  I'll post a more detailed race report by the weekend.  Thanks to all the bloggers out there who were rooting for me, and curious to know how I made out.

My official chip time was 3:40:36, about 10 minutes slower than I had predicted.  I am still 2 Slow 4 Boston!  However, the conditions weren't too favorable (60+ degree temps, about 90% humidity, and a head wind for most of the 2nd half of the race).  Also, the hills along the course were steeper than I had planned on or trained for.  OK enough excuses.  In the big picture, lots of positives I can take from my race.  It is my second fastest marathon out of 16.  It is my fastest spring marathon, and my fastest with any kind of hills.  More to come...

Austin also has a lot of Police Speed Traps ... it can't be fun running with that in the back of your head.

Sounds like a good time in spite of that 90% humidity! Yikes! Great job getting your second fastest time ever in a marathon!

I was 2 Slow 4 Boston for almost three years. Rome wasn't built in a day. Considering the conditions, that was a very solid race.

I have heard that Austin is pretty darn brutal! I'm glad you are able to enjoy a little time away from Kansas, and I hope you're feeling great post-marathon. Can't wait to read all about it!

Wow, that is such an awesome time for those conditions! I'm sorry all that effort went into training and you got hit with a rough weather day! That to me, is one of the toughest aspects of the marathon. BTW, is that header new, I don't remember seeing it last time, it's awesome, and I'm sure it will soon say 2slow4OT! (that's olympic trials, which can be your next goal once you smack the BQ down):)
